Some Facts about Racism
An African Caribbean graduate is more than twice as likely to be unemployed as a white person with A-levels.
In 1999 only 30% of Pakistani pupils, 37% of black pupils, and 30% of Bangladeshi pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades A*-C, compared with 50% of white pupils and 62% of Indian pupils.
Infant mortality is 100% higher for the children of African Caribbean or Pakistani mothers than white mothers.
A fifth of the housing occupied by asylum seekers is unfit for human habitation.
In 1998/9 black people were six times more likely to be stopped and searched than white people.
Over 4,000 people voted for the British National Party in Burnley in the 2001 General Election.

i think people are racist beacuse htere not happy witht eh way they are. I think all people should be treated and tought the same, just beacuse your skin colour is different or they may not have enough money i don't think that it makes a differentce i have some black people as friends and white people and they don't make racisal comments to us so why should we make them back. People all over the world moan about tehm coming to use when really their just trying to live a happy life like the rest of us.
i think that people are racist because they think that they are better than others and more 'pure'.they are just singling types of race or religion out because they ar not the same as them and are affraid that they might be better.

i dont agree with racism and think that all racis should not be compared to stereo types that have been put upon that race of people. for example black people are often asosiated with being involved in crime alot and are drug dealers and theifs, which ofcorse yes their is bound to be a few black people in the world but it doesnt mean to say that all black people are the same that is just a minority of black people that do that but people dont see things like that all the time. Now odviosly the biggest issue in this country at the moment is the asylem seekers and muslims because people think that all muslims are suicide bombers and that their all violent people, now ofcorse their is the muslim extremists that are terrorists and do want to harm people but again thats only a minority of people infact islam is a very peacefull religion and do not agree with violance so how does that make all muslims terrorists. i think that people are only racist because alot of the time they dont actualy understand what is happening and only get to see the extreme things that are done in act of terrorism. but what you dont see is all the things that are happening in iraque at the moment ofcorse you hear about it if any american or british soldiers become injured but what about the iraque people that are being killed in their hundreds out their and all the tortureing and killing that is being done by the americans and dear i say it britains now does that not make what their doin any better than what the muslims and isralies are doin. well thats all i have to say on that being as ive practically wrote an essay well any wat bbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!! hi mr beech this is the pygme shrew i tryed goin on other and postin it that way but it didnt work for some reason so i did it on anonymous
I think its that noone wants to be at the bottom of the pile so others think they are better as not wanting to be the same as others or worst. This is also made by Jealusy and noone likes someone being better and also fear that people are better ergo forces them down as to make them fear you.
i think some people are racist because the other people that they are racist against are not the same as them so they look at them as an outsider.
I think that people are predujice or racist becasue they think that if someone is not like them they connot trust or think of them in the same light as themselves.
I think that some people are racist because of the way they feel about themselves,and also because they are scared of 'outsiders'. They may have been brought up to be racists and therefore get it from them
I think that some people are racist because they have fault in themselves and want to take it out on other people, and by being racist they can make themselves feel bigger than the people who they are being racist to but its just a cowards way out.
Also I think people are racist because of their generation, because some people have been brought up with grandparents who were around in the time of the slave trading, so they have different views about it.

I think that some poeple are racist because they feel threatened by the person they are being racist about. I also think that racists use people from other races as scapegoats for things that go wrong and take the anger they have with other things on them. Being a racist has a bad influence on people around you too because after a while if you keep saying racist comments then people will start to beleive what you say even if it isnt true.
Some superb blogs again. The comments here suggest that most people think that racism is a bad thing...but it definitely exists. What do you think is the major cause of the ones we discussed? HISTORY, BELIEFS, THE MEDIA, SCAPEGOATING or is something else like PARENTAL INFLUENCE as some of you have suggested?
just to answer to Mr Beechs blog,i think that large majority of racism is due to the fact that they were braught up to be racist probaly a large amount to do with the father of the home. and also the media gives people a stereo typical view of differant racis and it also does with the last topic that we talked about which was sexual equality. Realy no matter which way you look at it people are going to be influanced by almost anything that they here its human nature but what people dont normally do is to question why they have said this because if poeple did then theyd find out that probaly a large amount of what they hear is probaly false.

I think people being racist depends on the area they live in and what there parents think, for example if you live in a community where there are no other races then you rely on other peoples opinion to find out what they are like which can lead to stereotypes.
