So bloggers, you have now looked at Christian and some Jewish views on racism (click on the title to read BORAT'S BELIEFS in wikipedia). The new Sacha Baron Cohen film has his fictional character describing how people in Kazakhstan like to "shoot the Jew."
Sacha Baron Cohen is Jewish. Why is he then encouraging anti Jewish jokes? Is he encouraging racism to Kazakhstani people? Is it OK to tell racist jokes or are they just like the stereotypes the Nazis used in 1934?

Yes borat is very funny,but that not the point, i dont think it is racist because hes a jew himself.

I don't think the man who plays borat is racist but when I hear people telling his jokes I think most of them are being racist. It is very funny but probably causes more racism than it stops.
no i dont think that sacha baran cohan is racist because he is jewish himself and as he describes its amazing how many people in the world are anti-semmatic all he is simply doin is takin the mick out of how the jewish race is perseived and by creating borat he is able to show to people how the jewish race is seen through the eyes of the public. But i would have to say that borat is the funniest thing ive ever seen and is amazin the way that he has the neck to say some of the things that he has said to people. but by me finding him funny does that make me racist well i can assure you that im not but people would argue because of me finding borat funny.
This film is a very rasist film, it has comments of throwing jews down a well because they may take your money, he also has comment about black people with the line "Look at the chocolate man" Also if you pay close atention he is actually taking the mick out of America and the people who live in America as well. But you have to think, Sacha Baran Cohan is Jewish him self and if he found this very effensive he would not of made it and to top it off it would of never been allowed to be veiwed by us, the public. Over all you have to think are you going to take his veiws and put them into practise?
Yes Borat is a racist film but it is very very funny i think even Jewish people will injoy it.
From what i have seen i think it is a very funny film and even though sacha baran cohen is a jew it can still be considered racist. He talks about the game 'shoot the jew' which is racist and he also talks about throwing jews down the well. I think that sacha baran cohen is racist because even if you are a certain race you can still be racist towards it.
im not sure weather the borat film is anti-semitic or not because he is a jew himself. i think what he is doing when he is talking about jews he is talking about the steriotypical jew were they are pedofiles and have big noses and are the evil of the world. and not what they are really like!

These are good examples of critical thinking. Jewsih people have often been victims of stereotypes (Nazis showed cartoons of Jews stealing their women and being gredy). Sacha Baron Cohen shows that these racist attitudes still exist in people today. I just hope that those watching it get the real joke.
Let's not forget, Sacha Baron Cohen will also make a lot of money through his brand of humour!
